This conference is designed to bring together academic and non-academic researchers and professionals (national and international agencies, NGO and private sector) and students interested in conservation and development issues in Africa and Latin America.

The Tropical Conservation and Development (TCD) program, host of the conference in conjunction with the Center for Latin American Studies and the Center for African Studies, strongly encourages the participation of its extensive network of alumni and collaborating partners in Latin America and Africa. Since its beginnings in the 1980s, the TCD program has trained approximately 350 alumni from 34 countries plus the U.S. Over 90% of the non-U.S. alumni came from developing countries in Latin America and Africa.

This conference provides an excellent opportunity to reconnect the UF community of scholars and practitioners as well as foster cross-regional networking opportunities to advance conservation and development in Latin America and Africa.
